Who This Is For
A sanctuary needs far more skilled hands than it can ever pay for. People training in animal care need somewhere that will actually let them do the work. Those two problems solve each other.
Veterinary technicians
Licensed or in training. Intake exams, medications, wound care, dentals, assisting on anything the vet is doing on site.
Veterinarians
Occasional or regular. Even a half day a month changes what a sanctuary can responsibly take in.
Animal care technicians
Daily husbandry, feeding protocols, enrichment, handling, behaviour notes. The work that decides whether the place runs well.
Pre-vet and animal science students
The hands-on time every application asks for and almost nowhere will give you.
Administrative and operations
Records, scheduling, intake paperwork, adoption files, supply ordering. Unglamorous and completely load-bearing.
Trades and maintenance
Fencing, plumbing, shade structures, vehicle upkeep. If you can build or fix something, there will be more of it than we can handle.

What We Can and
Cannot Promise
About hours toward certification
Supervised hours only count toward a credential when there is a supervising veterinarian and, usually, a school or accrediting body behind the placement. We are not going to tell you your hours will count until that is genuinely in place, because if you turned up on that basis and it did not, we would have cost you a semester.
What we can promise from day one is real work with animals, someone who will sign a letter saying exactly what you did, and a reference that means something because it is specific.
If you are working toward a particular credential, tell us which one when you get in touch. It is useful for us to know what people actually need before we finalise how placements are set up.

Not as a courtesy and not as a marketing line. A lot of people leave the service with more capability than their paperwork shows, and get told they need experience they cannot get without a job they cannot get without the experience.
A place that needs skilled hands and can sign for what you did is a way through that. When placements open, veterans go to the front of the list.
