in Orange County

What interpreting is ترجمة
Interpreting, Not
Translation
Interpreting is spoken and live. The interpreter is in the room while the conversation happens, carrying each side across as it is said, in both directions. Translation is written: a document goes in, a document comes out.
People use the words interchangeably, and it rarely matters until it does — usually at the point where somebody has booked the wrong thing for a hearing next Tuesday. What we do is interpreting.
- In person, in the room, for the length of the appointment
- Both directions, Arabic to English and English to Arabic
- Consecutive — the speaker pauses, the interpreter carries it across
- Nothing summarised, nothing softened, nothing left out

Settings غرفة
Settings We
Work In
If the meeting matters and the language is in the way, this is the list. If your situation is not on it, ask anyway.
Government meetings
Agency appointments, benefits and housing interviews, school district meetings, city and county offices. The settings where being understood exactly is the whole point.
Legal
Attorney consultations, depositions, mediations and immigration appointments. Nothing is summarised and nothing is softened.
Medical
Doctor visits, specialist consultations, intake and discharge. The interpreter carries what was said, including the parts that are hard to hear.
Business
Negotiations, site visits, supplier meetings and contract discussions where a phone line will not do.
Community and family
Parent-teacher meetings, tenancy and utility appointments, and the ordinary business of life in a second language.
Wherever two people are stuck
If the meeting matters and the language is in the way, ask. If it is not something we can do well, we will say so.

How we work معاً
One to One,
Not Auditoriums
This is deliberately not conference work. No booth, no headsets, no interpreting for four hundred people at once. That is a different discipline with different equipment, and if that is what you need you should hire someone who does only that.
What this is: a table with a few people around it. An appointment. A hearing. A meeting where two or three people need to understand each other exactly, and there is no room for approximately.
Varieties and dialects لغة
Arabic Is Not
One Language
Modern Standard Arabic is the common ground — the Arabic of documents, broadcasts and formal proceedings. It is not what most people speak at home.
Regional varieties differ enough that a speaker from one part of the Arab world can miss a great deal of another. In a benefits interview or a medical appointment, “most of it” is not good enough.
So tell us where the person you are meeting is from, or which variety they speak. We will confirm we can cover it properly before anything is booked, rather than finding out in the room.
Confidentiality يد
What Is Said in the Room
Stays in the Room
A large share of this work is legal and medical. People discuss their health, their immigration matters, their family, their money. None of it is repeated outside the appointment, and none of it is discussed with anyone who was not in it.
If your organization needs a confidentiality or non-disclosure agreement signed before an appointment, send it across with the booking and it will come back signed.
Four steps طريق
How a Booking Works
- 01
Tell us the details
Date, time, roughly how long, where in the county, and the setting. If you know which variety of Arabic the other person speaks, say so; if you do not, describe where they are from and we will work it out.
- 02
We confirm availability
You get a straight answer on whether we can cover it, and what it costs, before anything is booked.
- 03
We prepare
Names, technical terms, the documents that will be on the table. Ten minutes of context beforehand changes how well an appointment goes.
- 04
We are there, in the room
On time, in person. Everything said gets carried across, both directions, without editing.

Questions People
Ask First
What is the difference between interpreting and translation?
Interpreting is spoken and live: someone is in the room carrying what is said between two languages as it happens. Translation is written: a document goes in and a document comes out. This page is about interpreting. If you need a document handled, ask and we will tell you plainly whether we can help.
Which varieties of Arabic do you cover?
Modern Standard Arabic is the common ground, but real conversations happen in regional varieties, and they differ enough to matter. Tell us where the person you are meeting is from and we will confirm before you book, rather than turning up and hoping.
Do you work with large audiences?
No, and that is deliberate. This is one-to-one and small-group work - a meeting, an appointment, a hearing, a table with a few people around it. Conference interpreting for hundreds of people is a different discipline with different equipment, and you want someone who does only that.
Is what I say kept confidential?
Yes. A great deal of this work is legal and medical, and nothing said in an appointment is repeated outside it. If your organisation needs a confidentiality agreement signed before the appointment, send it over.
How much notice do you need?
More is better, particularly for a specific variety of Arabic or a technical setting. If something has come up at short notice, ask anyway.
Where do you travel?
Orange County, California. If you are just outside it, ask.
